Advantages

Disadvantages

  • Permanent removal of portion of stomach

  • May exacerbate reflux

  • Although there are several surgical options, our Surgeon prefers the  laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy. 

  • Sleeve gastrectomy is a Restriction method as opposed to the Malabsorption method

​RESTRICTION METHOD:

  • Reduces the size of the stomach (gastric bypass or gastric sleeve), or a device such as a gastric band.

  • A smaller stomach means you will feel full quickly and eat less food.
